The Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® will once again be partnering with MassHousing on its “Opportunity Knocks” series of first-time homebuyer fairs across the state on April 10-11.  However, unlike in years past, these events will be held in conjunction with the first-ever Nationwide REALTOR® Open House Weekend.

What does this mean?

It means a tremendous amount of publicity will promote open houses taking place on the weekend of April 10-11, but that’s not all.  As a bonus, any open house you have that is taking place from March 15 – April 30 will be available to consumers at the Opportunity Knocks website www.masshomefair.com and at www.marealtoropenhouse.com.  So, regardless of where you live and work, there is an event at which you can participate.  There will also be marketing materials available to help promote the events.  In addition, MAR and MassHousing will be using its resources to publicize the weekends.

More Details:  What is Opportunity Knocks?

Opportunity Knocks is a series of homebuyer fairs taking place at five malls across the state on Saturday, April 10th.  At these fairs, prospective homebuyers will be able to meet REALTORS®, MassHousing-approved lenders and homebuyer counselors and leave with a better understanding of the home buying process.  They will also have access to listings of open houses at www.masshomefair.com.  MassHousing is the state’s affordable housing bank.

 Fair locations:

Dartmouth Mall – North Dartmouth

Holyoke Mall - Holyoke

Solomon Pond Mall – Marlborough

South Shore Plaza - Braintree

Square One Mall - Saugus

What is the REALTOR Nationwide Open House Weekend?

It’s a weekend in which state and local REALTOR® associations across the country will be promoting open houses to help get buyers out looking at homes in time to take advantage of the Homebuyer Tax Credit.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY
I would recommend MassForSaleByOwner to everyone trying to sell their house. I can't believe I sold my house without a realtor. I saved a ton on commission and only paid the buyers agent 2%. Andrew was fantastic, very helpful when I could not get my pictures sized correctly. What a great service for such a value!! Thanks Andrew!! Best to you!!

I wasn't sure that we could sell the house ourselves in a down market so far outside of Boston, but it is possible! You've got to have an MLS listing to get your property information out there to do it and MassForSaleByOwner.com is the cheapest one I found. You don't need all that other stuff offered by the other sites (signs, lockbox, etc.)--you can get that all at Home Depot. I'd definitely recommend this service--they are very responsive and quick in getting your listing up. I thought we'd just try it and list with a realtor if a we weren't getting any interest/offers. But we got calls right away and our house went under agreement in less than 2 months and just sold!
